I grew up in the late 1970s and 1980s in New England. I was lucky enough to have a happy imaginative childhood which has influenced me to this day. Growing up in Lovecraft and King country turned out to be a perfect backdrop to a life long interest in the weird and strange.
For me the 1970s and 1980s was the greatest time for television, movies and toys especially in the science fiction and horror genres. One of my earliest television memories was of a show called In Search of… Each week Leonard Nimoy explored strange subjects like the Bermuda Triangle, the Loch Ness Monster, UFOs and ghosts. Like a sponge I soaked it all up. My mom took me to see some of the greatest films of that time as well. I obsessed over these films trying to remember every scene and every character. Lucas, Spielberg and Henson were the holy trinity of pop culture for me and fueled my desire to become a storyteller.
As far back as I can remember, I loved to draw and create stories with action figures and other toys. Play was a powerful tool of creation. It wasn’t until adolescence that I discovered the epic Japanese opus of Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo and the magical work of Michael Whelan and I realized I could share stories with others through drawing and painting.
Please check out my books in the Illustration section of this site. There you will find links to the Amazon Kindle store. The Harvester is a young adult novella about the distant future. Catch of the Day is a wordless graphic novel for all ages. The Tale of Two Tails, a children’s picture book written by my wife and illustrated by me. We are the Dead is a WWI horror graphic novel that is a collaboration with David Gein. It is a throwback to the horror comics of EC and Weird War Tales of the 1970s with a heavy Lovecraftian influence. Currently I am working on a horror anthology comic entitled Seasons of the Spectrenaut.
